Our Senses — Lesson
👃 Our Amazing Senses! 👂
One sunny morning in India, little Anaya was playing in her garden. Suddenly, she smelled the yummy aroma of jalebi from the kitchen! She ran inside and saw her mom making the sweet treat. Anaya could see the bright orange jalebis, hear the sizzle in the pan, smell the sweetness, touch the warm jalebis, and even taste the delicious treat! How did Anaya do all this? With her five amazing senses!
We use our body parts called sense organs to understand the world around us. Let's learn about them:
| Sense | Sense Organ | What it Detects | Example (Indian Style!) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sight 👀 | Eyes | Light and Colors | Seeing colorful rangoli designs |
| Hearing 👂 | Ears | Sounds | Listening to the sound of the dhol |
| Smell 👃 | Nose | Scents and Odors | Smelling fresh jasmine flowers |
| Taste 👅 | Tongue | Flavors (Sweet, Sour, etc.) | Tasting spicy samosa |
| Touch ✋ | Skin (Especially Fingers) | Feel of Things | Feeling the soft silk of a saree |
Rule 1: Each sense organ helps us in a special way.
Rule 2: We use all five senses together to understand the world.
Rule 3: Take care of your sense organs by keeping them clean and safe!
Your nose can remember up to 50,000 different smells! That’s why you can smell the spices in your mom’s kitchen from far away!
- Don’t mix up the sense organ with the sense. For example, tongue is for taste, not smell.
- Remember the 5 senses and their organs as a set — practice with examples from your daily life!
- Board exams may ask you to match sense organs with senses or give examples — keep your answers short and clear.
- Draw simple pictures of the five sense organs if asked — it helps you score better!
