⏰ Let's Learn About Time! ⏰

🌞 Story Time: Imagine you are waking up in your home in India. The clock says 7:00 in the morning. You brush your teeth, eat breakfast, and get ready to go to school. Your school starts at 9:00. How many hours do you have to get ready?

Let's find out together! 🕒

1) What is Time?

Time tells us when something happens. We use clocks and watches to see time. Time is shown in hours and minutes.

2) Reading the Clock

Look at this clock:

Hour Hand Minute Hand
Short hand shows the hour. Long hand shows the minutes.

Example: If the short hand is on 3 and the long hand is on 12, the time is 3:00.

3) Hours and Minutes

There are 60 minutes in 1 hour.

Hours Minutes
1 hour 60 minutes
2 hours 120 minutes
3 hours 180 minutes

Example: If your school starts at 9:00 and it is now 7:00, you have 2 hours or 120 minutes to get ready.

4) AM and PM

We divide the day into two parts:

  • AM (from midnight to noon) – morning time 🌅
  • PM (from noon to midnight) – afternoon and night 🌙
Key Rules:
  • 1 hour = 60 minutes
  • 12 hours in AM + 12 hours in PM = 24 hours in a day
  • When the minute hand points at 12, minutes = 00

🧐 Did You Know?

In India, the famous Big Ben clock in London inspired many clock towers! But did you know the Rajabai Clock Tower in Mumbai chimes every 15 minutes? 🕰️🎶

📝 Exam Tips

  • Always check if the time is AM or PM.
  • Remember: 1 hour = 60 minutes, not 100 minutes!
  • When adding minutes, if total is 60 or more, convert to hours.
  • Practice reading both analog (clock face) and digital clocks.
  • Board exams often ask: "What time is shown?" or "How many minutes/hours between two times?"

⏳ Keep practicing and you will be a Time Master! ⏳
